Welcome to St. Simeon's Parish
A message from Father Kombo L. Peshu
St. Simeon's is a strong and viable multi-cultural parish continuing to meet new goals and challenges. Although we no longer have a school, our community supports our children with a religious education program and a new youth group. Within the past two years, we have expanded our Parish Pastoral Council to include cohesive commissions reaching out to our community.
I was appointed the new Pastor of St. Simeon's in 2007 after having served as Assistant Pastor of St. Giles Parish in Oak Park for six years. I am grateful for my experiences at St. Giles and for the support and encouragement from the parishioners. This new role of Pastor is indeed challenging, but I welcome this opportunity of growth and to serve the people of St. Simeon.
As a child growing up in the small, poor village of Mwanda, Kenya, I always believed I had a strong faith in God and knew that I would do whatever it took to become a priest. Through a scholarship to come to the United States to complete my studies at the University of St. Mary of The Lake at Mundelein Seminary, I was ordained in 2001 as a Chicago Archdiocesan priest. I will always be grateful for this opportunity and I know that I am truly blessed to serve as Pastor to St. Simeon Parish.
